Types Of Braces

Scotia & Schenectady NY Braces:

At Hoskinson Orthodontics our Scotia and Schenectady orthodontists that take pride in getting to know each and every one of our patients that comes through our practice doors. We serve everyone in and around Scotia & Schenectady, including Glenville & Amsterdam. Every patient has individual needs and Dr. Hoskinson is happy to come up with a treatment plan for each orthodontic case.

While younger patients might not be old enough yet for Invisalign or Invisalign Teen, many of our teenage and adult patients who feel a bit self-conscious will appreciate the discreteness that comes with braces options like ceramic braces. We are excited to be able to offer multiple types of braces for our patients in the Scotia, Schenectady, Glenville and Amsterdam areas of New York, and our variety of braces options are sure to offer something that meet the needs of each of our patients.

Traditional Metal Braces

As clear braces continue to become more popular, many patients still prefer or need the traditional metal braces that typically come to mind when one thinks of “braces.” Traditional braces still remain a common choice that our patients make when seeking treatment. Metal braces effectively move the patient’s teeth, are durable, and have become smaller and less noticeable in recent years so that patients can still smile with confidence. Talk to your Scotia orthodontist about how we can help you get you started.

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces are another popular braces option for both our teen and adult patients. Ceramic braces are made of clear material which makes them more cosmetically appealing to many patients who are otherwise self-conscious of getting braces at older ages. However, these braces can tend to be more fragile than their metal counterparts. As such, patients may have to visit their orthodontist more often if the braces break or need repairs.

Invisalign® Clear Braces

Invisalign has become the most popular form of braces available on the market today. Our Scotia and Schenectady NY orthodontics team has consistently seen the demand for Invisalign in both eligible teens and adults skyrocket in recent years as the technology has gone mainstream. The Invisalign system offers patients the treatments and results that traditional braces provide while being subtle enough for those who may be self-conscious about undergoing treatment to correct their teeth. The system is also removable so that patients can eat and drink without the aligners, and they can brush and floss their natural teeth before putting the aligners back in. These aligners work in conjunction with advanced computer modules that allow Dr. Hoskinson to manipulate the patient’s teeth correctly to provide them with a gorgeous smile. If you think that you are a candidate interested in the Invisalign system, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our Scotia orthodontics team to inquire about treatment.

The NYS Dental Association has closely monitored all developments with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

As we are aware the COVID-19 situation in New York is one of the most serious in the nation.  At this time it is highly recommended that dental offices only provide emergency care for our patients; and close for a minimum of 3 weeks.  As a professional office we want to be responsible and slow the spread of COVID-19. We will follow this urgent recommendation- the office will be closed for patient care starting Wednesday 3/18/2020.  As of now the office plans to tentatively reopen 4/13/2020.  Dr. Hoskinson will be available to see emergency patients –  a patient experiencing discomfort. The office will reach out to our patients and  reschedule all appointments once we know an exact date for reopening.

This is an extremely fluid, unprecedented event in our country.  We are being faced with many unknowns and personal challenges at this time.

Happy & Healthy Wishes to all,

Hoskinson Orthodontics
